When I got out of prison in 2016, I was ready to start fresh and give back to my community. I started getting opportunities I never had before. I got a job doing photography and film production work and was hungry to grow in my career. But chasing that dream at times felt impossible because of the parole officer I had.
After connecting with others on social media who had been in prison, I found that many shared my struggles with their parole officers. I wasn’t the only one lacking the support needed to reintegrate. To stay out of prison, it’s crucial to have the right people guiding and supporting us. When that help is missing, we need a safe space where our voices can be heard.
In 2020, four years after my release from prison, I founded Project Protocol. We know that thousands of people released from California prisons each year struggle with reentry. Our vision is to create transparency, consistency, and accountability within the parole system. Achieving that vision starts with lifting up the voices of the people affected by the system.
What began as a mobile app has grown into an anonymous online platform to support people on parole. We provide a space to:

Let’s create Parole Officer (PO) accountability together. Leave a review on a PO. Stay to check out community resources to support your reentry journey.
